COVID-19 Safety Measures for In-Person Programming

How is Sunshine Centres keeping you safe?

As we return to indoor programming, we want to ensure we’re creating a safe and comfortable environment for all Sunshine staff, volunteers, and participants. To do so, Sunshine Centres will be following safety and IPAC (Infection Prevention and Control) protocol recommended by Public Health.

This guide highlights the measures we are implementing to keep you safe:

  • – Physical Distancing
  • – Masks
  • – Hand Hygiene and Environmental Cleaning
  • – Our Vaccination Policy
  • – COVID-19 Screening
  • – Mandatory Registration

Physical Distancing

All staff, volunteers, and participants attending Sunshine Centres’ indoor programs are required to follow physical distancing protocol, remaining the recommended 2 metres apart from others at all times. Staff or volunteers supporting a participant(s) in need of assistance are exempt.

All staff, volunteers, and participants are required to wear a mask upon entering the building. Individuals who present a doctor’s note excusing them from wearing a mask must wear a face shield. Masks and/or face shields should be properly worn at all times while indoors, covering both the nose and mouth. Masks may only be removed during refreshment breaks.

We recommend staff, volunteers, and participants bring their own masks to program. A non-medical mask will be provided for any staff, volunteers, or participants who do not have one.

Hand Hygiene and Environmental Cleaning

It is recommended that staff, volunteers, and participants clean their hands regularly either using soap and water or an alcohol-based rub to decrease the spread of pathogens throughout our facilities. Alcohol-based sanitizer is available at each program location.

All individuals are advised to clean their hands:

  • – Upon entering the facility
  • – Before and after touching surfaces or using common areas or equipment
  • – Before enjoying a refreshment
  • – Prior to touching your face or putting on a mask
  • – Before and after removing a mask
  • – After using the bathroom

At the end of each day, the facility will be cleaned and sanitized by Sunshine staff. Appropriate cleaning products will be used to disinfect frequently touched surfaces, common areas, and shared equipment to prepare for the next day.

Our Vaccination Policy

To keep the Sunshine community safe, all staff, volunteers, and participants, excluding those with a medical note are required to receive both vaccine doses. All individuals are required to provide proof of vaccination before participating in our in-person programs.

For information on how to print your vaccination receipt for free, click here.

COVID-19 Screening

All staff, volunteers, and participants are required to complete a COVID-19 symptom screening prior to entering the building. All individuals on the premise will be screened using the Ministry of Health’s COVID-19 Reference Document for Symptoms

Mandatory Registration

To ensure the safety of both our staff and participants, capacity for all indoor programs is limited to 15 individuals per day to allow for physical distancing. Registration is required for all indoor programs, so be sure to book your spot in advance. Individuals who have not registered will be denied entrance to the building.
